he Kansas City Southern Railroad brought great prosperity to the area when it arrived in 1897. However, the last passenger train departed Leesville in 1968. The building fell into decay until it was donated to the parish to house artifacts and memorabilia related to parish history. Today it serves as the Museum of West Louisiana.
